Localizing & Translating The Theme

The theme uses default strings which can we found in the theme language file that comes with the theme. These strings are grouped into one file which is located in the {theme_name}/languages folder. The file called is {theme_name}.pot. The values of those strings can be translated by the use of the poedit program. Or a plugin called Loco Translate

Loco Translate:

There is a free plugin called Loco Translate https://wordpress.org/plugins/loco-translate/ which allows you translate the files easily.

PoEdit

You will have to create a translation of that file by the use of poedit and name the file following the wordpress codex naming convention for localization. If you use different names the theme will not find the translations for the default strings you created.

Note: Even if you don’t like the default English wording used by us within the theme you can create a translation file called en_US.po and en_US.mo and change the wording this way. No need to do hard coded changes to the theme core files for those strings. The files you created with poedit you need to upload by an FTP program into the /wp-content/themes/{theme_name}/languages folder.
